Boehringer Ingelheim Foundations
The Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation as well as the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds are non-profit organisations, which act independently of the company. Both foundations are dedicated to the exclusive and direct promotion of science and basic research.
Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation – excellence in science and regional commitment
Since 2011, the foundation honours outstanding research with the celebrated Heinrich Wieland Prize. What is more, the foundation can support scientific events that act as a platform for an exchange of ideas between different generations of scientists.
In April 2013 the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation announced the donation of EUR 50 million in funding over the next ten years to further promote the life sciences at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
In 2009, the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation decided, to make a special donation of EUR 100 million, an amount which remains almost unparalleled in Germany, towards the establishment of the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) and to fund its operations for ten years.
As one of the first institutions to help up-and-coming scientists in Germany to create independent research groups, the foundation also sponsors research projects in medicine, chemistry, pharmacy and biology throughout Germany.

Twice a year, the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds invites scientists of worldwide repute to its International Titisee Conferences. Since 1962, experts from all nations have been meeting in the Black Forest (southern Germany) to discuss the latest results and developments in different areas of the molecular life sciences.
